Pcie 3.0 vs Pcie 2.0 [ x16 ] Differences – Does it even matter

I was wondering if my current PC’s motherboard which is almost 6 years old at this stage would cause a performance deficit with a Graphics card with a PCI-E 3.0 interface

This video on youtube from vmreviews seems to suggest that it doesn’t really matter and that the difference is minimal at best. From reading the comments people say its like a 1 fps improvement at best.

Another video seems to suggest the same result;

Motherboard upgrade:
The problem lies in upgrading an entire motherboard for just PCIE 3, it doesn’t make sense. Its difficult to know but the above video seems to show that there’s no real benefit.

Motherboard ,CPU and Ram Upgrade:
This would of course bring a better results but its almost impossible to guess how much benefit it would yield. I would guess a 20% increase in overall performance would be possible? Not something possible and still way too expensive to do.

5 Years on and still going:
My current PC setup has been going for almost 6 years, which to be honest is almost incredable. the only upgrade ive made in the time was to switch out the CPU from an AMD FX 4350 (Quadcore) to an AMD FX 8350 (Octocore) and ive no complaints in performance regarding most current PC titles. This is the longest peroid of time where ive not upgraded my PC.

Im not sure what it says about the state of the PC hardware market where i feel games are being held back by the consoles.

The definition of depression by Professor Robert Sapolsky

An hour long lecture from stanford univercity Professor Robert Sapolsky, on depression which is probably the best explaination ive ever come across.

One of the key points from the lecture are;

Depression is the inability of the brain to create chemicals which allow a person to overcome a negative event.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta – Is a Buggy piece of shit on PC

Unlike the multiplayer BETA on PC which worked flawlessly back in August this “game mode” and reason theres no single player in Blacks Ops 4, is a fucking piece of shit on PC.   It dont work.

Ive tried many times to get it to work but it just quits and wont start anymore.  Seems like the folks at “Beenox” want PC players to debug the game for them lazy cunts.

No Man’s Sky – Fix for being stuck in wrong galaxy after finishing the community event quest

Backup your save file before you do anything:
Type the following in the windows run dialog (Windowskey+R) to view the folder where your save game is located.
%APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\

Make a copy of the folder inside you should see a folder beginning with st_<bunch of numbers here>
eg “st_700045453”

Your NMS save file is located in; “C:\Users\windows_username\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS”

Wrong galaxy:
If the No Mans sky CE (Community Event) put you in the wrong galaxy after doing the quest heres how you get yourself back to the galaxy you were in. Example I was teleported back to “Euclid” galaxy when it should have put me back in the galaxy i came from the “Budullangr”.

Save Game Editor:
You’ll need to download the No mans sky save editor from;
Download here

Steps when you download the Save Editor
Note:
You will need to install Java 8 from Oracle get that from here;
https://java.com/en/download/

  • Unzip the NMS Editor
  • Double click the file called “NMSSaveEditor.bat”
  • Go to the File menu
  • Select “Open File/Path”
  • Browse to the  No mans sky folder on your windows C drive.
  • Your NMS save file is located in;
    “C:\Users\<your_windows_username>\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS”
  • On the Main panel select the save slot that your game is stored in.  In my case its “Slot 1- NORMAL”
  • Go to the edit menu and select “Cordinate Viewer”
  • In the galaxy drop down pick the galaxy you werein before the last NMS patch i.e the galaxy you should have been sent back to.
  • Save the changes if asjked when you exit the NMS save Game editor.
  • When you load of the game again find the nearest Space Station and use the teleporter in game to go back your base.Video showing how to set the galaxy in the NMS Save game editor below;

No Mans Sky NEXT is pretty good – (mini review Work in progress)

No mans sky rolled out a new massive update almost two years since the launched a few weeks ago.

When it was first launched back in 2016 the game was an interesting mildly fun yet empty experience.  I let myself get sucked into the hype and found it quickly got boring.

Fast forward to the “NEXT Update” in july this year which added a host of new features to the game.

Whats new and why its better?

Same old problems remain

  • Performance problems:
    Same issues since i last played it in 2016, performance on PC is very unstable.  There seems to be no way to improve it fully.
  • interface menu system:
    No mans Sky on PC must have one of the worst interface menu systems ive ever seen.  Now i understand why the menu system is the way it is as the game is also running on the PS4 which itself in an impressive feet but theres is no excuse for the menu system navigation on PC and Two years later!  Its awfull
  • Bugs:

Some screenshots of the game;
