Call of Duty Modern Warfare – Shuts down my PC -[solved]

After almost 7 months of this problem and having tried everything i read about it, i decided to run a temperature monitoring program in the background while i played the game.

When i posted this problem on reddit every post i read said to check temps.  Now i never overclock any PC hardware so i thoughts thats not the problem, i was wrong.

BIOS Settings:
There was a setting in the BIOS of the motherboard i had that was called ‘AMD TURBO-CORE’ which would over clock the CPU and cause an increase the temperature of the CPU.

TLDR/Long story Short/i dont care:
The CPU i had was an AMD FX 8350 and normally it would be around 70C Max load.  However this bios setting made temps hit 82C+  and thats where the PC would shut down as a measure to protect it from damage.

Suggestions for various websites that havnt worked;

  • v-sync on in the graphics settings
  • set ‘custom frame limit’ in game to 60 fps see GFX settings
  • turned off the NVIDIA in game overlay
  • shutdown almost everything running in background;
    • steam, Ea Origin,Epic Launcher
  • disabled Hyper-V
  • disabled Windows 10 fast start up
  • Power settings CPU min state 0%
  • Set max Framerate of Graphics card in the NVIDIA Control Panel to 60fps.
  • Cleaned all Fans in the PC case.
  • changed default sound format to 44100 mhz
  • AA SMAA 1x
  • Texture Filter Anisotropic filtering: Normal
  • uninstall Realtek Audio & LAN drivers
  • Reinstall Windows 10

Subnautica – A must Play Game of survival and base building-WIP

Ive wanted to write a review of this game for over 2 years but things have gotten in the way, looking at you No mans Sky with your incredable patches!

There are many games some are well good and some are bad but some are just something new and amazing and Subnautica is one of those games.

Of all the games ive played over the years Subnautica is one of the most enjoyable games ever.

Word of mouth – No mans Sky:
When No mans’s sky wasnt what it hyped up to be, people where pissed. I played it when it launched and wile it was “good” it wasnt what was promised.  The failure of No mans sky was a blessing for other small indie games doing a similar thing.

After reading articles dedicated to 5 games better than “No mans sky”, “Subnautica” was mentioned, id never heard of it.  So i had a look at the website and youtube trailer and i thought to myself yeah, this looks good.

Chill out & Stressful?
This game is such a chill out and yet serious game all in one. You can spend all your time just exploring, just floating along gathering stuff as the games music makes you feel at home.

I cant recommend this enough, its one of the best game experiences ive ever had in over 25 years.

Call of Duty: Black ops 4 is full of bugs – after almost 11 months

The worst thing about Black Ops 4 has to be the match making.  The amount of bugs in this game 10 months after it was released is just unacceptable.  Now before you get your list of excuses ready im talking about the multi player game.

NB:
the microtransactions work great lol. (tells you all you need to know)

Here we go;

  • This lobby is not joinable
    You join a lobby the game loads it stops loading and you get his message.
  • Joining a game mid-game
    and viewing the score board is broke
  • Play of the game is broke:
    i actually thought it was just on PC but no its on PS4 too and doesnt display players setup
  • Replays:
    Sound problems there are no gun shots if i remember right.
  • Kill-cam:
    Doesnt display anything sometimes
  • UI Error 62811:
    No idea how or why this happens, it happens when you join a game and then nothing.
  • PC only :
    Block a player and you still see their text chat

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta – Is a Buggy piece of shit on PC

Unlike the multiplayer BETA on PC which worked flawlessly back in August this “game mode” and reason theres no single player in Blacks Ops 4, is a fucking piece of shit on PC.   It dont work.

Ive tried many times to get it to work but it just quits and wont start anymore.  Seems like the folks at “Beenox” want PC players to debug the game for them lazy cunts.

No Man’s Sky – Fix for being stuck in wrong galaxy after finishing the community event quest

Backup your save file before you do anything:
Type the following in the windows run dialog (Windowskey+R) to view the folder where your save game is located.
%APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\

Make a copy of the folder inside you should see a folder beginning with st_<bunch of numbers here>
eg “st_700045453”

Your NMS save file is located in; “C:\Users\windows_username\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS”

Wrong galaxy:
If the No Mans sky CE (Community Event) put you in the wrong galaxy after doing the quest heres how you get yourself back to the galaxy you were in. Example I was teleported back to “Euclid” galaxy when it should have put me back in the galaxy i came from the “Budullangr”.

Save Game Editor:
You’ll need to download the No mans sky save editor from;
Download here

Steps when you download the Save Editor
Note:
You will need to install Java 8 from Oracle get that from here;
https://java.com/en/download/

  • Unzip the NMS Editor
  • Double click the file called “NMSSaveEditor.bat”
  • Go to the File menu
  • Select “Open File/Path”
  • Browse to the  No mans sky folder on your windows C drive.
  • Your NMS save file is located in;
    “C:\Users\<your_windows_username>\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS”
  • On the Main panel select the save slot that your game is stored in.  In my case its “Slot 1- NORMAL”
  • Go to the edit menu and select “Cordinate Viewer”
  • In the galaxy drop down pick the galaxy you werein before the last NMS patch i.e the galaxy you should have been sent back to.
  • Save the changes if asjked when you exit the NMS save Game editor.
  • When you load of the game again find the nearest Space Station and use the teleporter in game to go back your base.Video showing how to set the galaxy in the NMS Save game editor below;

No Mans Sky NEXT is pretty good – (mini review Work in progress)

No mans sky rolled out a new massive update almost two years since the launched a few weeks ago.

When it was first launched back in 2016 the game was an interesting mildly fun yet empty experience.  I let myself get sucked into the hype and found it quickly got boring.

Fast forward to the “NEXT Update” in july this year which added a host of new features to the game.

Whats new and why its better?

Same old problems remain

  • Performance problems:
    Same issues since i last played it in 2016, performance on PC is very unstable.  There seems to be no way to improve it fully.
  • interface menu system:
    No mans Sky on PC must have one of the worst interface menu systems ive ever seen.  Now i understand why the menu system is the way it is as the game is also running on the PS4 which itself in an impressive feet but theres is no excuse for the menu system navigation on PC and Two years later!  Its awfull
  • Bugs:

Some screenshots of the game;

RIP Total Biscuit

This guy was the first “youtube” celeb i heard of back when Wow was  huge, around 2006 id guess.

He was one the first people i followed over to youtube from his podcasts about Word of Warcraft.  I remember when i got into World of Warcraft i used to listen to his “Blue Please” podcasts.  He had a fantastic passion for talking about games with his “WTF is ” series.  He was a great gamer consumer advocate.

When a games company did something underhanded he called them out and i salute him for every thing he did.

Below he chats with Etan and Hila from H3H3 Productions on youtube about cancer and its well worth a watch.  This man’s attitude to the fight he had was remarkable.

RIP

RIP John Bain aka Total Biscuit

Help his wife gemma by donating here to the offical fund;

Many of you know the incredible TotalBiscuit aka John Bain.  Many of you also know that he’s been publicly fighting cancer for the last 4 years and recently passed from that fight.

John has had an incredible game’s media career that spans at least 13 years.  During that time he’s covered countless games including World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 and it would be pretty hard to make a full list of games he’s supported.  He was a journalist, entertainer, critic, philanthropist, and general good dude.  And he was one of the best.

In this career there are no medical plans, no retirement funds, and no golden parachutes.  The financial resources available are limited to the support of viewers and advertisers.  John’s family Genna & Orion are faced with short and long term challenges around housing, living expenses, income security, medical care, and the special needs of Orion (their son).

Please join me in supporting Genna and Orion in this very trying time to help take one burden off their shoulders.

Note: I have personally talked to Genna.  She knows and is very appreciative of anyone showing their support.  Genna is the only person who can withdrawl from this gofundme.

Note to streamers: If you’re looking to support the family, you can use this campaign if you want to raise money and have it go directly to them.
